Theracurmin and Longvida
The active ingredient of turmeric in forms the body can actually absorb.
Updated: October 2026

What is it?
Curcumin, the main active ingredient of turmeric, has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and nerve-protecting effects in the lab. The problem: the body barely absorbs normal curcumin. That is why there are special forms:
- Theracurmin: provides much higher and more stable levels in the blood.
- Longvida: was developed to reach the brain better.
What does research say?
A 2025 review in Frontiers in Pharmacology summarised the clinical data for the first time (Frontiers in Pharmacology). As an add-on, curcumin showed possible benefits for sleep and quality of life, as well as signs of slower motor decline, mainly in well-absorbed forms. But the authors stress: there are only a few small studies, and curcumin is not a recognised therapy. A clear advantage of Theracurmin or Longvida has not been shown.
My experience
I will add my own experience with Theracurmin and Longvida here.
My conclusion
Biologically plausible, with first signs in humans. What matters is less the amount than the form. An effect in Parkinson's has not been proven.
