Homeopathy
An important building block of my therapy, guided by Dr. Poppe since October 2021.
Updated: October 2026
What Is It?
Homeopathy was founded more than 200 years ago by the physician Samuel Hahnemann. Its core idea is to treat like with like. The remedies are heavily diluted, often so much that nothing of the original substance can be detected anymore, and they are usually taken as globules. An experienced homeopath chooses the remedies individually for each person.
What Does the Research Say?
The scientific assessment of homeopathy is controversial. A widely cited Austrian study from 2020 on homeopathy in lung cancer, which was long seen as counter-evidence and which I used to cite here, was retracted by the journal in November 2025 because the editors no longer trusted the results. There are practically no studies on homeopathy in Parkinson's.
My Experience
From October 9 to October 22, 2021, I stayed at the Hahnemann-Praxisklinik on Baltrum, together with daily meditation. In the middle of my hardest time, this stay did me noticeable good mentally. I came back stronger and full of confidence. That is also where I met Dr. Poppe, who has been my doctor ever since. As agreed with her, I take two globules every week, and I want to stick with that. Every few months I have a long talk with her. She supports me along my whole path.
The time on Baltrum, the calm, the conversations and the confidence helped me. Homeopathy is part of the combination that brought my turnaround in the fall of 2021.
Effort and Cost
Globules are cheap. A clinic stay like the one on Baltrum costs much more, and health insurance usually doesn't cover it.
My Conclusion
Homeopathy and Dr. Poppe's support are an important building block of my therapy. If you use it, see it as an addition and never as a replacement for medical treatment.
